C & O Railway Bridge across the Ohio River about 1940s.
The bridge was built in 1919 and at the time was the longest bridge
of its type.
Sciotoville Bridge, 1917, designed and built by two famous
American Civil Engineers, Gustav Lindenthal, D.Sc. (1850-1935), the
Consulting Engineer (and) David Barnard Steinman, D.Sc. (1887-1960),
the designer and stress analyst. A double track railroad bridge of
twin spans each 775 feet long, it remained until 1935 the longest
continuous truss bridge in the world and stands today as the
prototype for continuous structures. Its construction marked a major
advance in the art of bridge engineering and was a pioneer
achievement in continuous truss analysis. In beauty of design, size
and erection techniques it stands as a landmark of progress in man's
mastery of his environment.

Billy Sunday Tabernacle 8th & Lincoln Streets
Billy Sunday, William Ashley Sunday, one of America's most famous
evangelists, was born in Ames, Iowa. He was hated for
his strong stand against alcohol, gambling, and dancing.
Billy Sunday (1862-1935),
was a professional baseball player from 1883 to 1891 for Chicago,
Pittsburgh, and Philadelphia teams. He was converted through the street
preaching of Harry Monroe of the Pacific Garden Mission in Chicago. He
left a $5,000 a year salary as a baseball player for $84 a month in a
ministry position with the previously evangelistic YMCA. From 1893 to 1895
was associated with J. Wilbur Chapman. He was an evangelist from 1893 to
1935. It is estimated that over 300,000 people walked the "sawdust
trail" to receive Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord. (Adapted from "The
Wycliffe Biographical Dictionary of the Church," page 387, Elgin S.
Moyer, 1982, İMoody Press, Chicago, IL).
